The name 'Venus Line' was first used when the old Tateshina
Toll Road and the old Kirigamine Toll Road were joined. The Tateshina
road became free in April, 1986 and the Kirigamine road became free
in 2002. This road joins various sightseeing places in the Yatsugatake
Chushin Heights National Park including Tateshina Heights, Lake Shirakaba,
Kurumayama Kougen Heights with it's abundance of greenery and blue
skies, Kirigamine, Yashima Wetlands which abounds in Alpine plants
and Utsukushigahara Heights, the place which seems to almost reach
to heaven. Driving along the Venus Line through these various places
will leave you breathless at the beauty and nature surrounding you.

Venus Line is in the Yatsugatake Chushin Heights National Park which
is in the centre of Honshu Island. This road, which joins 7 villages
and towns can be enjoyed at any time of the year and as it covers
a wide area it has also become an important access route for many
of Nagano's sightseeing places. |
